Pre-Employment / Post-Offer screenings
Employees are a company’s direct asset. A great deal of time and money is spent to train each employee for their position. By keeping their employees safe and healthy, companies protect their assets.
At Activa Clinics, we offer a pre-employment/post-offer physical and functional screening program to identify those who are fit to perform the work and those who are at risk of injury if placed in the job. The functional tests are based on the physical demands analysis of the job and therefore vary on a case by case basis.
At Activa Clinics we work with the employers to ensure maximum benefit to the health of their organization.
A comprehensive assessment of the worker in the work environment is conducted to look for possible risk factors such as repetitive tasks, incorrect postures as well as strength and stress demands. Recommendations are made based on the physical and cognitive demands of the job and the set up of the workplace to minimize risk of injury and improve productivity.
Functional Capacity Evaluations
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is an objective and detailed assessment of a person’s physical capacity and safe level of maximum function. FCE is a comprehensive assessment, which includes review of the person’s detailed medical history, physical examination with focus on musculoskeletal issues and different functional tests. FCE can be designed to be job specific to aid with post-offer pre-employment screening and placement of a worker and can be completed over one or two days.
At Activa Clinics we offer Independent Medical Examinations to assess and manage a variety of cases. We have an extensive roster of healthcare professionals from many different areas of practice. Our examiners provide a detailed explanation of a person’s current status, and if requested, provide recommendations for management of the case. Our reports undergo a detailed quality assurance process and are provided in a timely manner. For more information regarding our IME services please contact our assessment division at 905.593.3330
Physical Demands Analysis
Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) is an objective and detailed assessment of the physical and functional requirements of a job. It can be used to ensure injured workers are able to return to work in a safe and timely manner by identifying the postural, strength, endurance and mobility demands of the job.
PDAs should be completed for each position in the company to aid with post-offer pre-employment screening and with return of injured workers. Whether you are interested in conducting a single PDA for a position in your company, or would like to complete PDAs for all your positions, we can help.
Work Site Assessment
The Work Site Assessment (WSA) is an objective and detailed assessment of physical, functional and cognitive requirements of a job as well as an ergonomic assessment of the worker in the workplace. WSA can be used to ensure safe return of injured workers to work or to place new workers in an environment suitable to their physical capacities.
Depending on the nature of the work and the worker being assessed, recommendations can be made to educate the worker on altering their work habits, modifying the work station/equipment or providing the worker with assistive devices to ensure safety and reduce risk of injury.
